Tainted Spice is a faction contract in Dune: Awakening that sends players deep into the irradiated wastelands of Sheol to recover corrupted spice from an old shipwreck. It exists in two versions — one for Atreides players and one for Harkonnen — but both share roughly the same objectives: reach the wreck, grab the tainted spice container, and get back to your faction handler for rewards.
Mission Objectives
For Atreides:
Locate the wreck of the Ship Delphis/Ourea (Aft) in Sheol.
Recover the tainted spice container inside the wreck.
Return to Thufir Hawat in Arrakeen to turn it in.
For Harkonnen:
Head to the Wreck of the Euporia at the far end of Sheol.
Find and collect the tainted spice container.
Report to Piter de Vries in Harko Village.
Both reward ~700 XP and 1,200 Solari on completion.
Step‑by‑Step Walkthrough
1. Prepare for Sheol
Sheol is extremely high in radiation — stay mindful of your exposure timer. Equip a Radiation Suit and carry plenty of Iodine Pills so you can survive longer in the zone.
2. Fly in via Ornithopter
Don’t try to cross Sheol by land. Because the wreck sits among rocky islands in the open desert, use your Ornithopter to reach it quickly and safely. Sandworms patrol the sand, and being on the ground increases your risk dramatically.
3. Clear Out Enemies
The area around the wreck frequently spawns NPC enemies. In some versions you’ll face two light foes and a gatling‑armed enemy near the entrance. Take them down swiftly so you have a clear path inside.
4. Grab the Spice Fast
Inside the wreck, head down the left corridor and look for the corner near a fire where the tainted spice container is located. Pick it up quickly — lingering makes you a target for PvP hunters.
5. Escape the Zone
Once you’ve secured the item, exit quickly. Fly away from Sheol’s radiation and hostile players before you begin your return to friendly territory.
Pro Tips
Backup Ornithopter: Carry a Vehicle Backup Tool so you can call a ride if your main thopter is downed.
Inventory Ready: Empty space beforehand — you don’t want to fumble the container in combat.
PvP Awareness: This area is a known PvPvE zone; check for other players before entering, and plan your extraction route.
Off‑peak Runs: Play during off‑peak server times to reduce PvP encounters.
